3D Laser Scanning

How does it work?

3D laser scans steer beams throughout spaces, where 3D objects deflect them. A laser rangefinder records deflection distance to quickly and accurately capture surface shapes. Finally, state-of-the-art software combines multiple surface models from different viewpoints to construct a virtual 3D model.

Ground Penetrating Radar

What is GPR?

Ground Penetrating Radar – or GPR for short – is a locating method that allows to accurately image objects beneath the surface. There are many benefits to this method: First, lawns and other structures can be left alone and don’t have to be removed. This alone saves hours or even days, depending on the project site. In addition, it measures the thickness and depth of any object and provides data from these measurements at an exceptional speed.

GPR uses radio waves, meaning it doesn’t require any disturbance of the ground.

Basically, it works just like a bat’s sonar: A transmitter sends electromagnetic waves into the ground, which reflect off any objects in the ground. These “echoes” are then registered by a receiver. The GPR system then translates this information into a map of the area, thereby locating any objects in the subsurface.
